“I’m thrilled with the painting of our cottage. Thank you so much.”
the process
Every portrait begins with an enquiry where you’ll be asked to share some reference photos. Emily will discuss with you the composition, size, and any details that matter most.
Plan
Once you’ve settled on the design, a sketch outline will map out the composition. If your commissions has a more detailed or unusual perspective, Emily will send this over for your approval before painting begins.
Sketch
Using professional watercolours, Emily builds the portrait layer by layer to bring the building to life. You can also let her know if you’d like any framing or mounting services to make your piece display ready.

pricing
Each building portrait is quoted individually, but this guide gives you an idea of where prices begin.
-
Each portrait is completely hand-painted and unique - often taking hours, or even days, to complete. And as Emily’s work is quite detailed, the minimum size of a commission is around 8” x 10” (a touch smaller than A4).
Pieces typically start from around £200, depending on the size and complexity of the building, as well as the size of the finished piece itself.
-
For smaller illustrations such as spot drawings for stationery, maps, or branding, prices start from around £150.
These pieces are less intricate than a full commission but still created by hand with the same care and character.
Every project is a little different, so it’s always best to get in touch with your idea to receive a more accurate estimate.
-
Whether you’re a venue, B&B host, or small brand, Emily offers bespoke artwork to use across your marketing, packaging, or printed materials.
Because every business project is quite unique, you’ll receive a tailored quote (start yours here) to suit your needs and can help you decide which illustrations will work best for your goals.
